GPS for waterfall: 34.92107, -83.14394
Water source: Ira Branch
Height: approximately 25 feet
There is no trail to Ira Branch Falls. In summer months, the dog hobble is impenetrable, even in the creek, making this a extremely difficult waterfall to reach. I suspect it is much easier in the winter months.
Along the way, pass by this large cascade:
Parking: Going north on Highway 107, turn left onto Village Creek Road. Next, turn right onto Nicholson Ford Road, and follow it to the end (go right where the road splits for a private driveway), where there is parking for the Foothills Trail. This is the same parking for Pigpen Falls and Licklog Falls, GPS 34.92488, -83.12238.
Hike: This hike is approximately 4.4 miles round trip. Hike approximately 2 miles along the Chattooga Ridge Trail until you reach the footbridge the crosses Ira Branch. From here, it is all bushwhack/creekwalk/find your best way. Experience with maps and off-trail hiking are recommended. (I would also recommend this one wait for winter months when the dog hobble is not an issue!)
